The notion of style. Learning styles. Cognitive style
Dictionaries provide the following meanings of the notion STYLE:
a) a specific mode of expressing thoughts in writing or speaking by selecting and arranging words, considered with respect to clearness, effectiveness, euphony, etc. that is characteristic to a group, period, person, personality, etc.
b) a particular, distinctive, or characteristic mode of action or manner of acting.
c) a mode of living, as with respect to expense or display.
d) manner or tone adopted in discourse or conversation
The term LEARNING STYLE refers to the preferences of each person to use certain learning techniques and strategies.
In the learning activity/process another concept is also often used: the COGNITIVE STYLE. At first sight, the cognitive style can be considered a more or less stable particularity, registered on the behavioural level in tasks of the cognitive style.
